Charlie Tjapangati was born at the site of Tjulurrunya to the west of Kiwirrkura. He is the younger brother of Nanyuma Napangati.
During the early 1960’s Charlie traveled to Papunya in the back of a truck with one of Jeremy Longs government patrols.
He was a teenager at the time and was initiated at Papunya after arriving.
